Home Sourcing

The 'new way of working' is a hot topic at the moment, work independent location and time is the credo.

In fact this is not so new. Back in the nineties the first companies started with home sourcing. In that time home sourcing meant that employees carried out their work from their home office for at least one day a week.

Although the concept offered many advantages for both the employer, the employees as for the customers,  home sourcing kept a dusty image for a long time: home sourcing was suitable for mothers who would like to earn some money with packaging work, mending and in the Netherlands with the famous shrimp peeling.

Of course this is retrieved. With the current information technology many jobs can be performed from the home environment or any other requested location. All you need is a computer / laptop / tablet pc / pda and internet access to be able to access business information, participate in meetings and communicate directly with customers and colleagues.

Both employers as employees had to learn how to deal with home sourcing and needed to get familiar with the benefits. Employers were afraid to lose control while they could not keep an eye on their employees, but noticed that their employees were more motivated, there was less absence for sickness or privat appointments, while the productivity increased against lower costs.  Employees experienced they were no longer attached to regular working hours and got a better balance between work and free time.

The new way of working

With the introduction of 'the new way of working' home sourcing is taken to a higher level, no dusty image and it has become normal that employees work when it is most convenient and where it is most convenient. Even the 'what' has become a thing, while the diversity in items that can connect to the Internet has never been so broad.

Together with the increase of social media, working becomes much more fun, it is even better for the environment. But ... keep aware of the pitfalls; personal data is spread without notice, security of information becomes more challenging and the boundaries between work and free time fade.

Lialis and home sourcing

Lialis is a good example of a company that functions successfully by working according to the home sourcing concept. Our employees have flexible working hours, choose their own work environment but still keep in touch with colleagues. Time management and human resources are coordinated to this way of working. Also the importance of communicating with customers is different; clarity in agreements, progress and time spending is very important.

Home sourcing project approach

Because the Lialis employees work from their environment, Lialis can lower overhead costs, enabling us to charge competitive rates. Through regular contact with the client, the client remains fully informed. Lialis reports every first day of the week about the progress of the project. Our staff will book all their time in a LiaTime application, making it possible in the week reports to specify exactly how much time has been spent on the project. If the project is fixed price offered, the client runs no risk, all additional hours are to account for Lialis. If the project cannot be performed for a fixed price, then a special key is mentioned in the offer in case Lialis unexpectedly need more hours. Do you have a complex or urgent problem or the implementation of a new or modified application is risky, then a Lialis employee will personally visit you.

Lialis has much experience with these topics and shares her knowledge. Feel free to contact us.
